I just want to say that my house participated in Earth Hour last night. I called several of my friends and they participated as well. I hope all of you readers did the same thing. This is what the purpose of this blog is about, saving those pennies. If everyday you just turn off 1 light you don’t really need it will save you pennies on your monthly bill. Also, you are saving energy and leaving it for the rest of our generations to use. People we have to look at the end result. You can think oh my little lights won’t help, but it will. Once energy is saved it can be used later!!! If everyone participates, it will make a difference. I am really doing my part to help make our world last. Are you?
Did you know that the United States is the world’s single largest contributor to global warming, with average annual emissions of 19.6 tons per person? That is nearly five times the world average of 3.9 tons per person. The impacts of climate change are too great to ignore, and we must do everything in our power to protect our future.
It clearly is time for all Americans to roll up their sleeves, to take steps to reduce emissions, to prepare for climate change, and to encourage others to do the same. Start with a few quick and easy steps.
Check lights. Identify frequently used light fixtures that use incandescent bulbs; order fluorescent replacements bulbs
Check the temperature setting on your water-heater. Reduce the setting to 120°F (typically the “warm” setting; or halfway between the low and medium settings), if it is not already set to that temperature.
Check the settings on your appliances. Where the option is available – and is not already selected — select the energy-saving setting on your refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine and other major appliances.
Check your thermostat settings. During the heating season, set the thermostat lower, especially at night or when rooms are unoccupied. During the cooling season, set the temperatures higher. If you have a programmable thermostat you can automate the daily settings.
Check showerheads and faucets. Determine whether any of your showerheads are models that use more than 2.5 gallons per minute. If so, order low-flow showerheads. Similarly, verify that your bathroom and kitchen water faucets have aerators. Order an aerator for each faucet that does not have one and that can accommodate one. These steps will reduce your use of hot water – and your use of energy to heat that water.
Turn off appliances that you are not using. Switch off TVs, computers, lights, etc. that are not being used and unplug items on “standby” (that use electricity even when not being used) , including TVs, video and audio systems, computers, and chargers (for cell-phones and other electronic equipment).
Check car tires for proper inflation. This can improve gas mileage. The appropriate air pressure typically is listed on the door-pillar on the driver’s side, on the inside of the glove-compartment door or in the vehicle manual.
Write a letter to one of your elected representatives at the local, state or Federal level. Tell them you believe climate change is important; and that you support the development and implementation of a climate action plan to reduce emissions and prepare for climate change impacts
Climate Change Pledges
To reduce your emissions further and to better prepare for climate change, pledge to do one or more of the following
- Learn more about your carbon emissions. There is much more you can do to reduce your household carbon emissions. Find out more about your emissions and where you can best reduce them by using an online “carbon calculator.” See the list maintained by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
- Commute by carpooling or using mass transit. Over a quarter of the vehicle-miles travelled by households are for commuting to and from work – usually with one person in the vehicle. Carpooling and mass transit are among options that offer big reductions in carbon emissions.
- Plan and combine trips. A lot of driving involves frequent trips nearby, to go shopping or run errands, for example. Plan and combine trips to reduce the miles you need to travel. Better yet, take someone with you so they can leave their car behind.
- Replace your vehicle with one with better mileage. For details go to http://www.greenercars.org/ or http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/Index.do
- Drive more efficiently. In particular, observe speed limits, avoid rapid acceleration and excessive breaking. Don’t drive aggressively.
- Switch to “green power.” Switch to electricity generated by energy sources with low – or no – routine emissions of carbon dioxide. Contact your electricity provider to find out about the “green power” options available to you.
- Insulate and seal your apartment or house. This will reduce emissions associated with both heating and cooling, two of the largest sources of residential carbon emissions.
- Replace older appliances with high-efficiency units
- Learn more about the potential impacts of climate change on your region.
- Learn more about potential weather-related emergencies in your area. Find out how you can reduce your vulnerability and how you can respond to each kind of emergency. Find out too about the plans government agencies may have in place.

Being that I am just starting the kids consignment in Lawrenceville, GA, I need as many FREE places to advertise as possible. I have researched, researched, and researched some more. Check me out on Merchant Circle , Craigslist, Yelp, Kids Consignment Guide, Mr Lister Online, and Yahoo upcoming events. All of these listing were absolutely FREE. These are pretty credible sites. These sources also get pretty high rankings on Google searches. I am all about getting a high Google ranking. When people are searching they tend to favor the top searches. The top is where I am striving to be. Another good place to be is on someone’s blog. If a blog does a review for you, then you are more likely to be near the top of the searches. I have a few people who have helped me out by posting on their blog for me. Thanks to all who have helped me. This is much appreciated. I will link to almost anyone and if you have something that relates to my blog then I’ll give you a review. Feel free to comment and I will respond to you. I have found that several people in the Today.com community have been very helpful. Blogging for Today.com has been a lot of fun. There are a lot of genuine people still out there. Do a good deed for someone today~

I figured it out finally. I have added a blogroll and top droppers section. This is so exciting. Everyday I learn more and more about my blogs. I am sure there is so much more to learn. If anyone wants to be added please leave a comment. Aren’t the little things in life great. I will swap links with pretty much anyone who asks. All I ask in return is that you add me somewhere on your site. I think we all have a little something to offer to each other. You never know what your reader wants to see that day. Even if your blogs has nothing to do with mine I will still add you. I won’t hate! I am not sure how much longer my top droppers section will be up, but I will convert top droppers over to blogroll, if you want to show me a little link love. It is all about helping others. If you do good, then hopefully people will do you good in return. If they don’t, then oh well you can feel good about yourself. I am trying to make the world a better place one good deed at a time. I am sure you all probably know what things you waste your money on. Sometimes you may not realize that other things are a waste.
*MUSIC DOWNLOADS- You need to shop around for the best deal. i Tunes costs around $0.99 where Amazon.com and WalMart downloads are around $0.74-0.79. Buying 1 song a week could save $10.40 to $13 annually by shopping around.
*AUTO / HOME INSURANCE-Did you know you can get discounts such as safe driver, having multiple vehicles or other types of insurance policies with the same company (EX: homeowners insurance), you can get a discount for having an alarm system on your house, you can get a discount for being a long time customer, so don’t switch companies often, you can get a discount for having completed a safety driver course, lowering the number of miles you drive your car, and lastly you will get a lower premium for raising your deductibles??? I have my homeowner’s deductible at $3000 and my vehicles at $1000. This has made a huge savings for us!!!!The average savings is around $200 a year or more.
*ORGANIC PRODUCE- I know it may be a little better for you, but regular veggies aren’t all that bad. Buying 1 pound of each item weekly could save $182 over the course of a year.
*OVERDRAFT FEES- WOW these have gone as much as $35 or more per transaction. Please make sure you budget and don’toverspend your checking account. Mess up just 4 times within a year and you’ve wasted $140.
*GYM MEMBERSHIPS- How many people do you know that buy a membership and never go? I know several and I did it once myself. Doing this you’ve wasted over $500 for the year. Why not buy a home workout DVD or simply walk 30 minutes everyday in your neighborhood. Or if you have to have a membership, shop around 1st. You can save over $300 a year by choosing a place like Bally’s!
*EXTENDED WARRANTIES- Most products tend to mess up within the 1st year and this falls under the manufacture’s warranty. Did you know that a few credit card companies will extend the manufacture’s warranty of purchased on a credit card? Before you make a big purchase call your credit card commpanies and get the inside scoop!

There is an organization that will help people in need. They are very picky, but they have to be. Modest needs is the name of the organization. www.modestneeds.org
This has helped me and my family pay a medical bill. This can help people pay mortgage, car repairs, or many other bills. If you have any questions about they work after you have read through their site, call them. They are very nice and will explain anything to you, but the will ask if you have read the FAQ on their site. You need to at least check it out. They are a wonderful organization. This is a website that can help people in need 2 times in a lifetime. If you have a medical bill, car trouble/repair bill, etc… and you need help, you might qualify for a free grant from them. Happy Friday readers!!!

Does anyone who is a ChaCha guide and a KGB agent find that each site gets a different set of questions? I mean in general the sexual and BS questions are all the same, but I mean I notice a difference in the questions from site to site. It seems as though KGB clients wants to know answers to real / legitimate questions. It is kind of weird and I may not be explaining myself well. It really seems that each company targets totally different sets of people. Lately, I have been enjoying more of KGB questions than I do ChaCh’s question. It seems like ChaCha lately has been kids age 13-16 years old, asking very elementary questions. I am not complaining because those questions are very easy. But one of the things I like about guiding is the challenge. I love getting questions that I have always wondered myself. Like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? Or Why do men have nipples? And questions along these lines. I especially love baby and pregnancy questions.
So for those of you wondering the average number of licks to reach the tootsie roll center of the tootsie pop was 412.7 but, since you cannot have a partial lick, round up to 413.
Males nipples: The best explanation I’ve been able to find (and frankly it doesn’t explain very much) is that nipples aren’t a sex-linked characteristic. In other words, nipples are just one of those sexually neutral pieces of equipment, like arms or brains, that humans get regardless of sex. As you may know, every human being gets a unique set of 23 pairs of chromosomes at conception. These fall into two categories. One pair of chromosomes determines sex–the XX combination means you become female, the XY combination means you become male. The other 22 pairs, the non-sex chromosomes (they’re called autosomes), supply what we might call the standard equipment that all humans get. These 22 pairs constitute an all-purpose genetic blueprint that in effect is programmed for either maleness or femaleness by the sex chromosomes. The programming is done by the hormones secreted by the sex glands.

What sites bring you the most traffic? I am just curious to see how others are doing. I work for KGB and ChaCha and so I get a lot of Google searches for “KGB vs ChaCha”. I get at least 35 hits a day from Google. I am not sure if this is a good number or a low number. I am glad I am reaching lots of people. I try my best to post relevant and current topics. I find that my blog gets hits on really random sites. It is simply amazing how the blogs get around. My links are on sites I have never even heard of. I hope people are getting good information out of my blog. I don’t want to upset anyone with my topics. Again I want to be clear that I don’t post anything negative about ChaCha or KGB. I just post updates for each company. Please no one take my comments as negative. They are just facts I know about each company. I am very grateful to work for both companies. I would love to hear from you all. Please post comments!!! Pretty please, remember be nice. Happy Friday!
